 | About Wrexham |
|
Wrexham is a town the Wales between the Dee Valley and the border with England at Cheshire. It has a population of over 42,000 and is the third largest town in North Wales. Wrexham was given full city status in 2002.
Traditional industries such as leather working and nail making have been replaced by more hi-tech companies like: Brother, Sharp, Tetra-Pak, Cadbury, Kellogg’s and JC Bamford (JCB). Most of these concerns are contained in the thriving Wrexham Industrial Estate which is the UK’s second largest. Unemployment rate at 1.9% is much below national averages compared to 2.3% for Wales and 2.5% for England.
Wrexham has been extensively re-developed with new shopping centres and luxury apartment blocks.
Wrexham contains Bangor-on-Dee racecourse which was founded in 1859 and is famous for its horse jumping events. |
