Denbighshire is a county in North Wales with a population of over 96,000 containing the principal towns Rhyl, Prestatyn and Denbigh. Denbighshire is mostly rugged moorland and mountainous terrain.
There are no heavy industries in Denbighshire the main employers are agriculture, dairy farming and live stock (sheep and beef cattle) along with various service industries.
Rhyl is a seaside town with a population of 25,000 and was famous as a Victorian resort and is now under regeneration with hotels and fairground attractions. The population of Rhyl was increased greatly by people from Merseyside and Manchester since the Second World War, and the Welsh language is now only spoken by 28% of its inhabitants.
Prestatyn is the longest established habitation in Wales, remains dating from the Cavemen were found in Craig Fawr. Prestatyn is a popular seaside tourist resort for the people for Wales and nearby Merseyside. Prestatyn was occupied by the Romans who left bathhouses and a now destroyed fort. |
