 | About Conwy |
|
Conwy (Welsh for Conway) is a borough and town on the North coast of Wales which as a population of just fewer than 4,000 and is positioned on the River Conwy.
Conwy Castle dates from 1283 and was built by Edward 1 in the Concentric style split into two parts (Inner and Outer) with 8 flanking towers measuring 70ft high with turrets.
Conwy Suspension Bridge was built by Robert Telford in 1826 to replace the local ferry. The turrets match the turrets in Conwy Castle.
Conwy contains Cadw, which officially the smallest house in Britain which has been inhabited since the 1500s and measures only 1.8m and was owned by a local fisherman who stood over 6ft tall! |
