North East Lincolnshire is a county in the North of England on the East Coast with a population of 159,000. Towns in the area include: Cleethorpes, Grimsby, Humberston, Stallingborough and Waltham.
Grimsby is a seaport on the Humber Estuary with a population of 87,000. The town was originally formed in the 9th century by Viking invaders who gave it the name ’Grims By’ or Grim’s village. Grim was a Danish Viking King who helped found a settlement on the site of the present town. Major employers in the town are frozen food (Youngs) Pharmaceuticals (Novartis) and chemicals (Tioxide Europe).
Cleethorpes is a town on the South bank of the Humber Estuary with a population of over 34,000. Cleethorpes is a seaside resort and tourist destination popular for swimming in the sea, seasonal accommodation and its lively nightlife. |
